Clos Galena, the Priorat winery founded in 1999 by pharmacists Miguel Pérez and Merche Dalmau, celebrates its 25th anniversary with the launch of a special edition: ‘Clos Galena 25 years of a dream 2022’. This exceptional wine, under the Priorat Qualified Designation of Origin, reflects the winery's track record and dedication to producing high quality organic wines.
After the death of Miguel Pérez in 2013, Merche Dalmau took over the management of the winery, maintaining the commitment to sustainability and respect for the territory. Clos Galena currently manages 30 hectares of organic vineyards and produces 155,000 bottles annually, exporting 70% of its production to countries such as Switzerland, Germany, Puerto Rico and Mexico.
Clos Galena 25 años de un sueño 2022’ is a limited edition of 1,398 bottles, made from grapes selected from five special plots, including Carignan from 80-year-old vines, Grenache from 45 to 60-year-old vines, and Syrah from 30-year-old vines, all grown in licorella soils characteristic of Priorat. The wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, resulting in a complex red wine with notes of ripe fruit and Mediterranean herbs, accompanied by sweet spices and fresh balsamic notes.
The winery has been internationally recognised, being the first to serve a Catalan wine, Formiga de Vellut 2014, at the 2017 Nobel Prize dinner. In addition, in 2023, it received ‘The European Awards’ in Paris as winery of the year. Clos Galena continues its commitment to organic production and the promotion of Priorat wine culture.
