Clos Galena, also known as Domini de la Cartoixa, is celebrating its 25th anniversary since its founding in 1999 by Miguel Pérez and Merche Dalmau, who established the winery with a focus on social and environmental sustainability in Priorat. After Pérez's death in 2013, Dalmau has kept the essence of the project alive, respecting the territory and its community.
To commemorate this milestone, Clos Galena has launched a limited edition of 1,398 numbered bottles of ‘Clos Galena 25 Aniversario’ wine, available on the market at a price of €125 each. This special wine was presented during a tasting at the Via Veneto restaurant in Barcelona, where it was paired with dishes such as goose royal and a selection of Catalan cheeses. In addition, other outstanding vintages from the winery were tasted, including Galena 2010, 2013 and 2019, and Clos Galena 2007, 2012 and 2019.
Located in El Molar, in the southwest of Priorat, the winery manages its vineyards without the use of synthetic chemical products, using traditional and natural methods to preserve the environment. Since its beginnings, all its wines have been organic, with Grenache Noir and Carignan being the most important varieties, complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.
Clos Galena has received international recognition, such as the 96 points awarded by The Wine Advocate to Clos Galena 2004 and the selection of its Formiga de Seda 2014 for the Nobel Prize banquet in 2017, being the first Catalan wine to receive this honour.
