Formiga de Vellut 2021
On December 10, 2017, Formiga de Vellut became the first Catalan wine served at the Nobel dinner during the entire history of the awards.
Formiga de Vellut 2014 was served during the Nobel dinner, a fact that not only contributes to reconfirming the quality of the wine, but also to highlighting all the Priorat wines and in particular attention to ecological and environmentally friendly wines. environment.
Elaboration: Manual selection of each variety of organic grape. Fermentations of each variety separately, at 22º C for 7 days. Maceration takes place at 28º C and the paste is separated from the wine by gently pressing the pomace. Finally, assembly of the single varietal wines, before entering barrels.
Aging: 8 months in French (80%) and American (20%) oak barrels.
Tasting Notes: Formiga de Vellut is an intense cherry red color wine. It has a complex aroma, where red and black fruits stand out, combining with balsamic and spicy notes. In the mouth it is a full and powerful wine, with a meaty and velvety finish, where ripe and fresh tannins are present.
Pairing: Rice and pasta, poultry, white meats, red meats, game, sausages, cold cuts, meat stews, eggs, pâtés, foie, blue fish, cured cheeses, vegetables and greens.
