The winery is called Domini de la Cartoixa (The Priory's domain) and as the name indicates, these lands were once owned by the Carthusian monks of Scala Dei Priory. As well as promoting the cultivation of the vines in the Middle Ages, these monks drenched the Priorat with a spirituality which can still be felt as one walks through the old vineyards today.
Grape production is kept low and extreme care is taken, giving top quality wines made using a traditional winemaking system. |
